Brian Becker

DCC Participant

Brian Becker’s journey has been profoundly shaped by cancer, which has not only impacted his family but also inspired his pursuit of a career in medicine.

Brian’s father served as the principal at Embassy Creek Elementary for nearly 20 years, leaving a lasting legacy in the community. In 2013, he was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Although he was believed to be in remission, a new cancer emerged in 2018. Tragically, Brian’s father passed away a few years later.

Reflecting on his father’s battle, Brian shares, “My dad really made me a stronger person. Seeing the way he dealt with this horrible disease… He kept living life.” His father’s resilience and determination left a mark on Brian, shaping his outlook on life and his commitment to helping others.

To honor his father’s memory, the Becker family organized a celebration of life that drew a community-wide turnout, highlighting the many lives his father had touched. This event was a testament to the profound impact his father had on those around him.

Today, Brian continues to keep his father’s memory alive through his involvement in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge and the establishment of his family’s own foundation, BeckerStrong. Through these efforts, Brian is dedicated to supporting cancer research and providing hope to others facing similar battles.

My dad really made me a stronger person.
